ALL ABOUT SUGARING

Our goal at The Honey Pot is to provide you with efficient hair removal, while minimizing discomfort of the skin - all while making you feel comfortable and taken care of in such a vulnerable position. We understand how nerve-racking it can be coming in to get a Brazilian done, but rest assured, we are experts in this and will do everything we can to make you forget what you are even doing! You will be in and out...and smooth...before you know it!

Preparing for your sugar appointment:

• Ensure the hair is at least 1/4 of an inch long for the smoothest results. If you have been shaving, I say wait at least 2 weeks after your last shave before getting sugared. If you can wait 3-4 weeks that's even better!

• Exfoliate the skin before your appointment. This will help get any hairs that are trapped under the skin, up and out - giving you smoother results. 

• Keep yourself hydrated and avoid consuming things that can be dehydrating (i.e. alcohol, caffeine, etc.)

• If doctor approved, you can take a couple of Advil 30 minutes prior to your sugar to lessen the discomfort and reduce swelling.  

• Discontinue use of any retinols 1 week prior to your sugaring appointment. (This typically only applies to the face).

• Yes you can have hair removal done while you are on your period or pregnant. If you're comfortable, we're comfortable! Some women are a little more sensitive during that time of the month or when expecting.  

• Please have a tampon or menstrual cup if you are on your period to stop the flow of blood during your service.

Aftercare and maintaining those results:

• 24-48 hours after your hair removal session, avoid anything that can cause further irritation to the skin or anything where bacteria can enter your open follicles (i.e. hot tubs, saunas, hot baths, swimming pools, pedicure tubs, etc.)

• Wear loose fitting clothing and avoid working out.

• Avoid touching the area or anything that can cause more friction (yes, that mean sex). 

• After 48 hours begin to exfoliate the skin regularly with both a manual and chemical exfoliator. 

• Keep your skin hydrated to keep the hair soft so it can easily exit the skin, preventing ingrown hairs.
